Brian H. Hook is a diplomat who worked for President George H.W. Bush, President George W. Bush, and President Donald Trump. From 2017-2018, he was the director of the Policy Planning Staff at the State Department. He was the lead State Department official who helped negotiate peace agreements between UAE-Israel, Bahrain-Israel, Sudan-Israel, and Morocco, known collectively as the Abraham Peace Accords. He conducted secret negotiations with Iran in 2019 and 2020 that won the release of two American hostages. From 2016-2020, he led the maximum pressure campaign to counter the Iranian regime’s terrorism and pursuit of a nuclear weapon. Mr. Hook held a number of senior positions in the Bush Administration, including Assistant Secretary of State for International Organizations; Senior Advisor to the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations; Special Assistant to the President for Policy at the White House, and Counsel in the Office of Legal Policy at the Justice Department. He was a corporate lawyer at Hogan & Hartson in Washington from 1999-2003.
