Shane Harris is a staff writer with The Washington Post, covering intelligence and national security. He has previously written for the Wall Street Journal, the Daily Beast, and National Journal. Shane is the author of two books, The Watchers: The Rise of America’s Surveillance State and @War: The Rise of the Military-Internet Complex. He was part of a team of Washington Post reporters that won the 2021 George Polk award for their coverage of the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. And he was part of the Post team that was a finalist for the 2019 Pulitzer Prize for their coverage of the murder of Jamal Khashoggi. Shane co-hosts the podcast “Chatter,” a weekly conversation about the intersection of national security with culture, science, and technology.
